Guess Who I Met At The London Workshop
I live on the coast of North West England and it’s fairly remote so I don’t get many chances to meet up with other Internet Marketers.
Networking is important for making contacts to help build your business and to exchange ideas, so when the London Workshop was announced I grabbed my place quick.
(Or fairly quick – I actually had to cancel some other plans first to fit it in.)
I travelled down on Saturday and stayed the night in Kensington.
I woke up very early so headed off to the meeting with plenty of time to have a look round.

I walked through a Park by the Thames
As it was being held just off Whitehall I had a quick look round as I don’t go to London very often.
I used to live the part of the time when I was a freelance computer games programmer.

A View of Whitehall

No.10 Downing Street can just be made out in the background behind the fencing and armed police.
I then headed back to the meeting at the Royal horse Guards Hotel
The event was organised by Kevin Brown who I also knew from Standing Start Profits.

Keith Purkiss, Kevin Brown
The first speaker was Kevin Riley and he held a product creation workshop.
He turned the tables on former teacher Lee McIntyre who became a student for a few hours.
I first met Kevin on the Standing Start Profits forum and now take part in his weekly sessions on Mini Money Factories.
Kevin Brown then gave away some tips about using WordPress to create virtually any type of website, and a few people suggested he releases a product about it soon.
In the afternoon we had two lessons from Lee McIntyre where he gave away some of his secrets of list building, and then about automating your business.
I’ve first knew of Lee when I joined Standing Start Profits where I later became a moderator and he has rapidly grown his business to well over $1 Million per year.
There were two tea breaks and a lunch break where we got the chance to talk to everyone and also take a few photos.

Those of you who are on Alex Jeffreys coaching course will recognize two of his most successful students from the first course- Dan Briffa and Dean Holland who we are all hoping to emulate.
They have both been able to leave their jobs and become full time marketers.

Dan Briffa, Keith Purkiss, Dean Holland
After that I spoke to Tahir Shah (author of Dreams Not For Sale)
If you seen Tahir Shar’s blog http://www.tahirshah.name you WON”T recognize him below:

Tahir Shar, Keith Purkiss
I also spoke to Matt Garrett a little about SEO, and it turned out neither of us has submitted a site to Google. (Let Google find your site by itself through links – submitting can delay your site being indexed)

That’s it for now – if you get a chance to goto on of these meeting grab it with both hands.
I’m now concentrating on make longer posts less often, so see you in a few days.
UPDATE
Here’s a video made by Kevin Brown at the workshop

Hey Keith,
Great round up of the event. I always seem to miss out on these things and that’s something I have to rectify quickly.
David
It looks like you had a superb time Keith, and I see you managed to grab Kevin and Lee for photo along with Dan and Dean! – Sounds like you had a GREAT time, and I’m sure you’ll be visiting many more, maybe I’ll manage to go to one sooner or later!
And BTW, you look slightly different to the other picture you’ve been using before, time to update me thinks? HEHE
Thanks
Mark
Thanks David,
Hope you make it to Alex’s meeting
Keith
Yes it was great Mark!
I’ve had my hair cut and nobody recognized me
Yes, you have to come to one of these meetings!
Hi Keith,
I like your picture of the park by the Thames. Looks like you were able to combine fun and learning on your trip. Not to worry about some recognizing you we see your footprints!
Take care,
~ Julie
Sounds like a good time and quite informative. I really like the pictures.
Matt Garrett strikes me as being a real nice guy, would that assumption be correct?
Cheers,
Rod
The chance to network is invaluable. As usual, I am jealous but I am not going to make it to the other side of the pond. Highly unlikely I will make it to ones on this side but I can live vicariously.
I was interested to see the advice about submitting to Google. Makes sense — but you usually do.
Carol – http://www.websitewealthwizards.com
Hi Rod,
Thanks for dropping by
No he’s horrible! Just kidding – everybody there was a real nice guy or gal (only two women there)
Thanks Carol,
A year ago I wouldn’t have expected to start attending this kind of event but I will try and represent those who can’t attend.
Another meeting next Monday, life is hectic at the moment
Hey,Keith,
I see you had a good time.Between the guys on your pictures I know only Matt Garrett and Kevin Riley.I bought some information from Kevin about Video Creation. He is living in Japan and has Japanese Wife. It’s nice to meet people from all over the World.BTW my Daughter is living not so far from you, in Enniskillen, North Ireland. Hope to meet you sometime.Next year we plan to visit her over there.I have 2 Grandchildren already and miss them to much.
Today bought a camcorder to attack the Youtube.LOL
Thanks Julie,
Yes, next time I hope to stay a bit longer and see more
Hi Keith
Sounds like you had a productive weekend – look forward to seeing more of the results in due course!
All the best
pj
Thanks PJ,
Still recovering, but have done a bit of work
I have to try and keep the momentum going…
Hi Anatoly,
Thanks for commenting! I was in Enniskillen a couple of years ago as part of a holiday in Northern Ireland. Also went to Belfast and Derry.
This year we hope to do a trip right round Ireland if possible.
Thanks
Keith
Hi Keith,

was good to meet you on the weekend!
I got the details you sent, I’ll be back in touch soon, just gotta kick the Warcraft habit for a day or two
cheers,
Matt
Hi Keith,
Ha! I knew those two scallyways – Briffs & Deano – were at that event. I hope they behaved themselves! (Though… knowing those two…) LOL.
Great photos too. That really added to your summary of the event.
Regards
Gary Simpson
Sounds like you had a cool weekend Keith
A few faces and names I’ve not personally met there too – wich I’d popped down, but it’s such a trak!
I will be in Manchester though for Lee’s event in August
And Naturally – on Monday I’ll be at the Northallerton Meet Up
Chat son mate, and I can’t wait to hear the gossip you couldn’t print (I know there’ll be some if Matt got to the bar)
Randy
http://www.RandolfSmith.com
Hi Gary,
No – they both got drunk
Just kidding, without you and Paula to lead them astray they were fine!
Thanks Randy,
I didn’t find the bar, but wondered where everyone had dissappeared to. Matt was only in the workshop for lunch break I think
Yes Keith, you do need a new pic – you’ve changed nearly as much as Tahir!! (I have to admit that when I met him in a bar in Bristol in May I didn’t recognize him until he spoke). I’d had a long talk with him 18 months earlier but he’s changed so much it made me realize that none of us stay the same for ever!!!!!!
I have to admit that I really enjoy networking, but I can no longer take alcohol and get away with it, and my hearing is too poor for a crowd…….. didn’t I say we don’t stay the same for ever – make the most of the time you’ve got!!! Haha.
Meanwhile, thanks for the feedback, good luck with Alex’s Course (he doesn’t wear that baseball cap ALL the time does he?) and hope to see you again soon – are you coming East to Northallerton on Monday??
John O’York
Just adding a comment here to test a theory I read…
A bit of a blackhat seo trick
I’ll post and see if it works – then spill the beans if it does…lol
Hi Randy,
I had to approve your post, it didn’t auto-approve.
I think the email must have to match as well as the name.
I tried changing my email to yours in my post to she if my photo changed to yours but it didn’t.
Anyone know how gravatars work?
Thanks Matt,
Hope you’ve recovered.
Randy’s checking to see if the script’s fool-proof
If his blog dissappears we’ll know it wasn’t.
Hi John,
Yes should see you and Randy on monday. Will you be reporting on the success of your project?
I’m bringing my camera to so I can get more photos for my blog.
Anyone know if Mike Filsaime is popping over for this one?
Cool – looking forward to it Keith
And the trick worked!
I read that if you go to a blog that shows top comments…. to gain an extra link – You just use that persons name in making a comment.
As I did in my last comment… using Carols Smith as my name!!!!
Now if you go and click on Carols Name as top commenter – it links to my site….lol
(You may wish to delete my comment Keith – or edit it to my own name to be fair to Carol!)
Interesting though … it does work!
Randy
http://www.RandolfSmith.com
Hey Keith
(Ditto )what Randy said about deleting …
Just seeing if it will work for me too …!!…lol
Malcolm.t.
http://malcolmtmckinnell.com.
I need to contact you ??
Hi Randy,
Yes, I’ve changed it back now.
I think we have to be careful who’s blogs we post on as well, as the blog owner can edit the comments to sat anything and it will have our photos and names against it.
Really the poster should be able to edit as well.
Hi Malcolm,
Yes it works for you, I will wait until you’ve seen it then change it back.
I’m thinking of running a competition for the best software idea as a few people are PMing me ideas.
Hi Keith
Interesting information about Google will have to look into that. Also great idea on the complete list of Alex’s students and their blog addresses. This has saved me doing the same thing. Thanks Barbara
Gutted I couldn’t make it, Keith, but you look you like you made the most of it
Whaddya mean, without me to lead him astray??? I never lead anyone astray, tch
Px
Thanks Barbara,
There’s so many student blogs to read now, I think I still have a few to read.
Hi Paula,
I didnt think you read my blog, I’ll have to be careful what I say now

Wow, you met up with some big names there, must be great to be able to chat with them all. Unfortunately i don’t get many seminars to attend here in Bangkok, but looking forward to meeting up with all of the MWA students.
Thanks for sharing Keith.
Cheers,
Paul
I was brought by Google in this site through pictures. I am lucky to discover that the post is very helpful because I am interested to learn online marketing.
