I’ll Create Your Product For You – Suggest A Script Competition
How I Created A Product In 7 Days and built a list of over 150 people
But First:
How I Got 1000+ Backlinks To My Blog
I checked the total backlinks to my blog today and it had reached 1003.
In the process this boosted my ranking for “Alex Jeffreys” into the top 20 and it’s still going up.
4 weeks ago I was 104th and had 276 backlinks.
I am not doing anything complicated as this is to be research for a beginners SEO ebook.
Anchor text is also important – I have been commenting as ‘Keith Purkiss (Alex Jeffreys Student)’ so other students know who I am, but it does give me Alex Jeffreys in the anchor text and rank me much higher.
The majority of SEO is done via backlinks and anchor text. You can rank for terms that aren’t even on your page, although for competitive keywords you need to do work on the page title, tags, links etc.
Getting 1000+ backlinks isn’t as hard as it sounds, in fact it isn’t hard at all.
The majority of the domains linking to most people’s blog are made by commenting on other blogs, not from people directly linking to you.
Having said that if you do get a link eg in someone’s blogroll that means a link on every page of their blog so for a large blog that’s dozens or even hundreds which is why I said ‘domains linking’ not ‘links’.
Each comment doesn’t just get you one link – check my results. Your appear in recent comments, visitors and various other places depending how the blog is setup.
These links will vary over time.
I have 4 or five link exchanges with colleagues blogs, which as mentioned above results in 100s of links.
I have some from other students who use the widlink widget, and links from 4 or 5 forums that I belong to. Forum signatures can result in 100s of backlinks too depending on how many posts you make and how the forum is setup. Some forums are private and don’t count as search engine’s don’t have access to them.
I also have backlinks from my generator program and also from blogs that have it installed (more about that later in the post).
A lot of my backlinks don’t show up in the results yet so I do expect the total to keep growing.
Summary
1) Make useful comments on other people’s blogs.
2) Exchange Blogroll links with friends and colleagues
3) Link to your blog in Forums.
4) Be creative with other ideas – I used my backlinks script.
UPDATE
A week later and I now have 1533 backlinks without doing anything muc and am 12th for Alex Jeffreys.
A lot of links appear to ‘breed’ ie one blog comment becomes multiple links by being included in archives, searches etc. Also links take time to appear so the number can keep going up even if you do nothing.
To check your backlinks there are many different tools, but I am using Yahoo Site Explorer

How I Created A Product In 7 Days and built a list of over 150 people
I already mentioned my Backlinks Generator Script in a previous post, but to sum up it is a simple idea that took less than a week to create including setting up a mini-site.
I have now converted it to use the Butterfly Marketing Script to make it more viral.
Everyone who signs up becomes an affiliate and earns commission from promoting it
If people buy the upsell (which is a customised automatic version of the script)
The point I want to make is that a product does not have to be complicated or take a long time to create and it certainly does not have to be perfect.
I had to improve the instructions after release as people had a job to understand them, and also I changed to the Butterfly Script. This is not essential and I would not recommend it for anyone starting out. I want to use it in the future so decided to try it out now, and feel it was worth while for me.
I’ll Create Your Product For You – Suggest A Script Competition
I am thinking of running a competition where people suggest a script that I could write. The would be open competition is open to everyone.
It should be something fairly simple.
Eg Something that could be added to people blogs and help create traffic.
There should be a free and an upgraded brandable version (which will be given free to all Alex Jeffrey’s students and everyone who posts a comment on this post before 21st August), so that it can be used for a profit pulling platform.
I would like it to be something that benefits everyone.
I am looking for suggestions for the prize (or prizes).
A cash prize is an option, but I would like to do something that is more valuable than cash.
Of course the winner has the upgraded script and I will install it for them.
Also if applicable joint credits on the script and a built in link to their site.
If there’s a PDF instruction sheet, or a free report then the winner would be promoted in that too.

Now you’ve got me thinking Keith…..
Problem is – for us non techy’s you’re saying what would you like that I could write a script for… and we have no idea what is possible??
What we’d all like is more traffic,
After that maybe a script that would make people WANT to come to our sites,
Something that would make others want to send people to our sites,
Then we start getting complicated….lol
A script that shows all high traffic sites that allow others to comment and has do follow plugins?
A script that automatically posts our links and anchor text to high traffic sites?
All these fancy little scripts that make cool graphics setc. look great – But at the end of the day – we all want more traffic and more sales, with more subscribers joining our lists etc.
More JV partners, more relationships with other marketers (all of which takes time and I can’t think how you would automate that…lol)
—-
On a different note – and after thinking about it….
What about a script that has a data base of funny one liners that would give people a smile?
And the script change the joke daily so people would want to come back to read a new one each day.
I know it’s not marketing related – but it is ‘People’ who visit sites!!
And people like a laugh

What a great list, Randy. Each of those suggestions should start people thinking.
I am really interested in “A script that shows all high traffic sites that allow others to comment and has do follow plugins”
As a beginner in SEO competition analysis, any help along those lines is always of interest.

Ill have a think over some suggestions and let you know if anything that springs to mind. Must confess that I’m not the most technical so like Randy am not sure of any limitations…

Hi Keith
Great tips and information on your site. how about a script that stores your commments in categories in relation to the blog posts and enables you to copy and paste comments to blogs, as well as showing page rank of sites and do follow
Avis

Hi Keith,
I wish I understood more about backlinks, but you’ve certainly added to my knowledge considerably with this post, so thank you.
I’d love to get involved with this competition. If I think of anything really useful, I get back to you my friend.
Talk soon,
Andrew.
Hi Keith,
Just following up what Andrew said above, is there any chance you could explain how to check the number of backlinks that your site has?
I’m still building up my knowledge and that would be a big help.
Fantastic idea / offer about the scripts, I’ll think about that over the weekend and get back to you.
Speak soon,
John
Hi everyone and thank for commenting – I’ve added an update to the post – I use Yahoo Site Explorer to count my links which is very simple.
Well Keith, your Blog is zooming up my “Must Read” rankings rapidomundo!! I used the Yahoo Site Explorer and found I’m down in the 40’s somewhere so I do have rather a long way to go to get to the 500 I’d targeted as my “success” level 1.
You have raced well past that point and already more than doubled it!!
It gives me encouragement as well as some practical help so of course “I’ll be back”, I’d be nuts not to return for more follow up info!!
I haven’t come up with a simple script for you yet but I read the outline of one in Beta Testing today (NOT Keyword Elite 2) and it would be amazing help for us all………
*********************************************************
What this does is it shows you exactly what’s easily “up for grabs” in terms of easy, profitable traffic that other affiliates spend good money for, and that is gold as you well know!
• Exposed: The Top 95 Super-Affiliates from CJ
• Exposed: The Top 97 Super-Affiliates from ClickBank
• Exposed: The Top 98 Super-Affiliates from LinkShare
• Exposed: The Top 37 Super-Affiliates from PayDotCom
• Exposed: The Top 101 Super-Affiliates from ShareASale
• Exposed: The Top 102 Super-Affiliates from MaxBounty
• Exposed: The Top 54 Super-Affiliates from ClixGalore
That’s a total of 584 super-affiliates completely exposed – we get to see exactly how they’re making money, as well as the “weak spots” where we can simply hop on and snatch up some brainless profits (I love brainless in this context).
********************************************************
Plus – it covers why some products on Clickbank seem to consistently outrank others, selling tens or even hundreds of copies daily?
It’s not a mystery. Not remotely. It’s simply because they’re being marketed effectively – especially from search engine traffic.
So the exact marketing processes for 241 of the hottest Clickbank products in every category need to be exposed.
Every keyword they bid on. Every landing page they use. The ads they’ve tested. Everything.
And of course – each and every keyword needs to be matched up with organic competition data (using “exact match” results) to clearly show us the “easy pickings” within that product’s market. So we can walk right in knowing what already works and expend minimal effort for maximum results.
**********************************************************
Plus – Google’s entire business revolves around our ability (along with every other internet user/publisher) to create content that they can redirect searchers towards. That’s how they get traffic.
No content, no traffic and therefore no ad revenue.
We need good, original and relevant content – and always will. Count on it.
So that’s why you need to produce this script by 1 Sep, specifically designed for organic marketers. PPC’ers will greatly benefit from this as well but the real gold is that you’ll need to expose the “rankability” factor for each of the 1.5+ million keywords in the package by displaying its “exact match” competition level.
Whenever you see a keyphrase or keyword with under 50,000 competitors, it means that with some effort it’s well in reach. And anytime you see one with under 5,000 (and there’s literally tens of thousands of high-traffic, high-cost keywords like this in here), you can practically rank for those in your sleep.
There are a few other factors, but they’re usually easily defeated with even the slightest amount of hard work.
So instead of spending days or weeks researching keywords and finding the holes… we can filter an entire market down in 2 seconds and only focus on researching keyword targets that we can rank for easily.
This will give us an incredible edge Keith, and I hope you won’t mind knocking it up for us. Don’t be too long though, if you can do it by Sunday evening that would be miraculous – haha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yours
John

Hi Keith,
Thanks for all the tips on building backlinks, I took a lot of ideas from it.
I can’t think of anything that hasn’t already been mentioned, but I like Randy’s idea of a script that you could load your own funny one liners or quotes into.
Take care,
Paul.
I have already seen it somethere…
