Do JV Giveaways Give You Poor Quality Traffic?
I have to admit that at first JV Giveaways and Adswaps didn’t really appeal to me.
The thing is a lot of Giveaways I’d looked at are full of old PLR packages that have been around for years and I didn’t see the point in filling up my hard disk with junk.
However I know people who have had succes with them, so decided to give them a change and I have now been doing them a several months. I mainly use my own original product and it does produce results.
I decided to test Giveaways in another niche and see what happened, here are my stats:

As you can see the Giveaway brought in 200 visitors in a week, compare to 19 in Ezinearticles during nearly 3 months.
A big difference in the quality can be seen by the bounce rate:
Nearly 80% form EA meaning only 4 people stayed long and only 2 opted in.
In contract less than 30% bounced form the Giveaway and I got 90 optins.
This is because traffic from a Giveaway has already seen your product image, title and description so are much more targetted.
The value of them as future customers is a different matter, but if you aren’t already doing Giveaways these figures should make you want to at least give them serious consideration.

Nice to see some stats from it Keith,
I have to admit giveaways are something I did for a while – but got tired of trying to put together new packages and setting up all the pages…lol
Hence I stopped bothering for ages – but it’s something I know I should be doing just to keep new subscribers coming to my list.
I’ll have to add it to my new year resolutions list…lol

Hi Keith,
Your post just covers what I’ve been pondering in the last few days – giveaways. It really helps that you show a concrete example of how effective they can be.
Getting 200 targeted visitors and 90 opt ins in a week is pretty good.
Your comparison with the results from Ezine Articles makes it stand out even more.
I think this will put to rest any doubts whether giveaways can work. Even if not all of them may work out as expected they certainly are worth trying.
P.S. I now have installed a keyword luv plug in which is in addition to comment luv. Please make sure you take advantage of it the next time you comment to get anchor text link. The instructions are below the comment box.

Have been an avid user of Giveaways in the past but have slowed down. Need to step it back up but I am working on a new giveaway so will probably wait after first of year.
I, too, have found them very successful.

@Vance,
Thanks, my post was inspired by reading yours, I thought I’d through in a few real figures to encourage people
@Carol I think it was from you I first heard about Giveaways and we got some good members to Website Wealth Wizards from your entries in them.
P.S. I first heard about adswaps from Randy.
Anyone know of anything else that is working well
Hi Keith,
As we can see from your results, it would seem JV Giveaways are much more worth while than article marketing.
JV Giveaways are something that I wish I had started doing a lot sooner… I started doing them and them stopped to focus on writing my ebook.
I’m going to be getting my ebook in as many as of them as I can now, and I’m sure I’ll have better results now I’m using my own product… Where as before I was using MRR ebooks.
Take care,
Paul.

Hey Keith,
Thanks for providing the stats with this post!
When you say you “decided to test Giveaways in another niche”
do you mean a sub niche in the Internet Marketing category or one outside of IM? (not asking you to give away your market)
I’ve often found IM tactics produce quicker results outside the IM niche; maybe because they’re slightly less competitive.

@ Paul – Yes your own product will work better both in Giveaways and for Adswaps as it will be something people havent seen before and of course it brand your name for the futurw as well.
@Rob
It was outside of IM – I used a Yoga eBook my Girlfriend edited a couple of years ago, and also put a Weight Loss eBook in the same Giveaway and that got about 100 optins as well.
Not sure what I will do with these lists, but if anyone is in the same niche suggestions are welcome!
For my next post I plan to publsih the stats for an adswap.
That’s interesting as the weight loss niche is a highly competitive one – maybe there’s life left in Giveaways outside the IM niche!
I’ve promoted as a Yoga affiliate in the past – it seems to be a seasonal market hitting highs around Christmas & New Year – maybe guilt over too much holiday food
– so you’re at the right time of year to do something with that list.
Looking forward to your adswap stats post…I’ll check back in soon.

Hi Keith,
I have used giveaways on and off for some time but never had the amount of optins you had.
I think I need to create a new product and get back into it, just wondering did you upgrade in the giveaway you had that many in?
Great to see some stats on it,
James

Hi Keith,
I have personally been doing give-aways for the past year with mixed success. I think the key to it is – giving away real value.
Anyone can bundle togther a load of PLR junk and offer it away in exchange for an email address. The key is to giving them something of value to keep them subscribed and coming back for more.
Thanks for sharing your stats they made interesting reading!

Steve.

@ James,
It was just $8 to upgrade in the one, and is the best one I’ve done by a long way.

Thanks for commenting. Offering further value to my subscribers is something I will be working on more.
I love to see a sudden spike in my traffic just like yours too. I have never used JV before. I will give it a try.
