Alex Jeffreys $1000 Competition and why I might not take part!
Today I have a dilemma!
Those of you who are Alex Jeffreys coaching students will already know that he will be running competition where the person who drives the most traffic to their blog wins a prize of $1000.
My issue is I that I am just completing a product (I intend to release it by the end of the week) that is related to pulling
traffic into websites or blogs. It is a viral product and creates trafic for me too. That’s the problem.
If other students use it they will get traffic themselves but they will also send some to me. (They can choose not to use it but that isn’t a good thing when it could help everyone)
Should I still enter? I feel I will have a conflict of interest.
It’s not that I think I’m going to win – I would have a chance the same as everyone else does but there are many students already way ahead of me with blog traffic.
I think that trying to win could draw me in two opposing directions.
Would it be best for me to opt out and concentrate on helping all the other students to get traffic?

rich darby
Hello Keith,
Just do it. It’s designed as a learning experience more than anything else. If you push the right buttons it works otherwise it will fail. In any case there will be a ton of other more experienced guys entering the ring, trust me you will not be alone. I’m a newbe out there with no experience, I say go for it. This will also be a good way to test your product.
Hey Keith,
You are so right, focusing in two things maybe produce good things, but focusing on only one thing will produce superb thing.
Yours
Mohamed Hammad
It’s just a healthy and FUN competition – why not join!

I wouldn’t worry about it – I would offer the product free with a caveat stating what you just said, then people can decide whether or not to accept or decline
Put it out there brother! I don’t care if you make some money alongside me… we’re in this thing together, right?
I need to put some more effort into my project this week… the past few days kinda got away from me.
Talk to you soon!
Peace,
Alan
I would continue on as you are. There’s so many different variables and, as you say, many are already way ahead of you so at the most you’d be playing catch up.
Thanks Richard,
Maybe my next post will be how I lost $997 in 2 days, or how I emailed my list and half of them opted out
Thanks Markus,
It will be a steep learning curve for many people, but it should be good
Thanks Mohamed,
I will focus on my product and helping people use it.
and the traffic can take care of itself.
Thanks Alex,
Okay it will be fun to launch my prodcut and help anyone interested to use it.
I was thinking more about the previous competition where some people used tactics that upset others.
Thanks Peter,
I will definately explain what it is about to people then leave it up to them
Thanks Alan,
This is certainly something that can be done as a group, I hope everyone else feels the same
Thanks Rod,
The time I spend on my product and helping other people use it may actually end up with me getting less traffic than if I went flat out at getting visitors.
My long term plan means I have to go with the product.
Hey Keith,
Of course you should still enter. The $1000 is a pure bonus, I think what Alex is actually doing is to get us all focused on generating traffic, so regardless of who wins, it will be a huge learning curve for every student to see how others go about getting their traffic. In the long term, if you can show other students how to get huge amounts of traffic using your product then they will have learned a valuable lesson that could be worth a lot more than $1000 over the course of time.
See you at the starting line mate
Cheers,
Paul
Hey Keith,
In my honest opinion, go for it….., stick with your plan for your product and if you win, you’ll prove how valuable your product is
Cheers
Sean
Keith,
Don’t worry too much about it, launching anything new if done in the right way will drive loads of traffic.
You could always donate the winnings to your favourite charity….lol
Good Luck as I am well up for the challenge.
Regards
Neil
Hi Keith,
I personally believe that you should still enter, whether or it gives you an advantage, or not. That is really cool-your own viral product to generate traffic…I for one, can’t wait until you release it. Hopefully, it won’t be too steep of a learning curve for some of us who are a bit technically challenged, to put it nicely.
Looking forward to the release, Keith-I truly wish you the best!
Take care,
Joann
I agree with all of the students above. Push your traffic generation method and if it makes you win then everyone will congratulate you! It’s all in good fun and I don’t think anyone sees it as cheating or having an unfair advantage… My 2 cents.
As above, go with the product. We are all adult enough to be able to decide whether we use it and send you traffic too. Best outlook is that the contest gets us all focused and going in the right direction.
Hi Keith,
Enter the competition anyway. This post is a good storey line what ever happens. Let me know how the product development goes. I’d be interested in cross promoting what you are doing on my blog …. as an additional method of promoting your product virally.

Hi Keith
For my vote I think you should go for it. I for one am not in the running as I’m not as progressed as yourself in the course. I’m a complete newb to this avenue and have very little time to devote to this project, but I do what I can whenever I can. Like making notes for my ebook while travelling on the train etc. So I know that I’m not even at the starter block for this comptetion. I think what Alex is proposing is a win-win situation all; for the winner, the contenders and the late runners.
